When we first moved to LA, my youngest child was searching for ways to make this our home. One evening we stopped a this little oasis patio smack in the middle of a residential neighborhood. This cozy outdoor restaurant is La Bamba, a Cuban restaurant on the corner of Glenoaks and Lamer streets in Burbank. As we were sitting there enjoying the open air venue, my son says “Can this be our spot”? Since that time it’s our “go to” place where we’ll have a warm neighborhood welcome and good food for a good price, especially the tacos.
One shrimp taco is loaded with shrimp (actual size) with two tortillas making two generous portions for $3.95. I usually get the pork which is equally loaded and good topped with guacamole and pico de gallo.
How about a Carne Asada Grilled cheese with garlic fries. Try the fried yucca too. It’s loaded with garlic.
La Bamba is truly a neighborhood spot. They have huge TV’s and cater to the sports crowd. Wine and beer, bloody marys and margaritas are served along with a wide variety of specialty iced teas.
A husband and wife team work together to bring this special place to this lucky neighborhood. We were there for lunch today and see that they are expanding into the adjacent building which used to be a music school. (I think the expansion is going to serve gelato!)
